BOARD OF GOVERNORS - PEN PORTRAITS

Jane Price Chair of Governors

James Mills Vice Chair of Governors

As a parent, I am deeply committed to supporting our school community and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

I am a qualified teacher with a Master’s degree in Computer Science. I have extensive experience as a Senior Software Engineer, with a strong background in programming and technology. These combined qualifications and experiences give me a unique perspective and a diverse skill set that I hope to bring to my role as parent governor.

My goal is to support the school by utilising my skills in education, technology, and problem-solving to enhance the learning environment. Whether it's assisting with the integration of technology into the curriculum, improving school operations or helping to create innovative learning opportunities for students, I am passionate about contributing in any way I can.

I look forward to collaborating with the staff, parents and fellow governors to ensure that our school continues to provide an outstanding education and a supportive environment for all students.

Susanna French

I've worked for Dudley Local Authority for 21 years as a Primary Teacher. I have taught within three schools during this time and I am currently teaching in a Year 3 class. I have experience of teaching within all year groups - Reception through to Year 6 and have led many curriculum areas, including Design and Technology, Geography and Maths.

Both of my children have attended St Margaret's at Hasbury since the age of two. My eldest son is now at secondary school in Year 9 and my youngest child is in Year 5. Both children have, and continue to thrive on learning here.

I feel privileged to have this opportunity and am looking forward to being part of St Margaret's at Hasbury's journey, both as a parent and a parent governor.

Anthony Batham

I left the University of Birmingham in 2005 to join Victoria Park Primary School as the Business Manager, PA to the Headteacher and a Staff Governor. The school was rated as 'inadequate' by Ofsted when I joined, and I was part of the team that took the school from special measures to outstanding in five years. Over the next five years I was integral part of the process to take the school to an academy and then a multi-academy, something which I was proud to have been involved with. I also helped set up and put systems in place for the Victoria Park Teacher Training School and I secured government funding for several major projects.

After ten years, I was invited to join the Senior Leadership Team as Business Director at Rounds Green Primary School, to help move the school forward, In August 2018, I decided to retire as School Business Director. However, a few weeks into my retirement, I was asked to help out at St. Margaret's at Hasbury Primary School as Business Manager for a 'few months'. This was extended for a 'few more months', and was such a lovely place to work, that when Mrs Shepherd and the governors offered me a permanent post, I couldn't say no! I finally retired in December 2020.

My fifteen years as a Business Manager and Director have given me a wealth of knowledge and experience in Finance, HR, Health & Safety, Risk Assessment and much more, including school crossing patrol duty! A primary school is a unique place to work, one which I have found very rewarding.

Outside of school, I coach a 6-8 year old's football team, I play and coach badminton and play the drums, guitar and bass in two bands. I'm also learning to play the piano in my retirement!

Helen Thomas

As a dedicated school governor, my priority is to support the school in achieving the best possible outcomes for each child, focusing not only on academic success but also on nurturing their creative and spiritual growth. With a background in education, I bring a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities that schools face. I am passionate about fostering an inclusive, engaging, and stimulating environment where children can flourish in all areas of the curriculum. By working closely with staff, parents, and the community, my aim is to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to explore their full potential in a supportive and well-rounded educational setting.
